End of Year Gradings

Dec, 24 2020 by Dave

It is great to announce some grading results for Baysiders as 2020 draws to a close.

On 1 December, we ran some tests for the junior aikido group. Congratulations to Omkara Wrightson 5 kyu, Luciian Van Staden 6 kyu, Azumi Masuda-Kevans 7 kyu, Clarissa Chong 8 kyu, Mili Masuda-Kevans 9 kyu and Rana Van Staden 10 kyu.

The QKR held it’s Seminar on 8/9 December on the Gold Coast with a strong attendance from the iaido membership. Sundara Wrightson and Andrew Dahms did an excellent job in grading examinations for 3 Dan and 1 Kyu respectively. Here’s a picture of our newest happy 3 Dan.

Finally, the aikido grownups had a go on 13 December with Evan Haklar receiving 2 kyu, Narada Wrightson 3 kyu, Sundara Wrightson 4 kyu, Nakula Wrightson moving to senior 4 kyu and Simon James 5 kyu. Here’s the Bayside Budokai Von Trapps along with Simon showing off their certificates. Well done!

Pretty cool weatherwise this morning on the Bayside, but a great day to reintroduce aikido techniques with physical contact. Taking it slow though, it’s been a while.

COVID-19 Training Suspension

Apr, 25 2020 by Dave

As a result of the Chief Health Officer’s Direction, all scheduled training classes are suspended as of 24 March 2020 until further advised. Hopefully, we will be able to get back to normal before too long.

In the meantime, we need to be responsible and observe the social distancing restrictions. Please everyone keep active and positive as we look forward to a fresh start.
