The end of 2021 is upon us. We’ll have some refreshments and maybe a snag or two after class this coming Sunday 19 December. Our last class will be on Thursday 23 December and training will resume on Sunday 2 January. Thanks everyone for your support once again.

AKR Iaido Championship 2021
Bayside Budokai members Sharma Wrightson, his son Narada, and daughter Sundara were all amongst the medals at the Australian Kendo Renmei National Iaido Championship held on the Gold Coast on 12 June. The event attracted competitors from all over Australia, with the exception of Victoria, due to Covid restrictions.
Iaido involves drawing and cutting with a sword in predetermined forms known as kata. Competitors are matched against another person and judged on their relative skills in performing the forms.
Sharma and Narada Wrightson took out first and second places in the 2-3 Dan event whilst Sundara was a member of the second placed team in the goodwill event as well as receiving the overall encouragement award. It was a great reward for years persistent and dedicated training.
David Brown Sensei 24-25 April 2021
It was great to have Dave Brown Shihan back on the Bayside this weekend. A hip replacement, heart bypass surgery, cancer, and a pandemic later he’s still walking the walk and inspiring us. Thank you Sensei for your teaching, Lynford for organising, and everyone who showed up from near and far for a great weekend.
Welcome to 2021
All classes are well and truly up and running according to schedule for 2021. 2020 proved challenging for everyone and Bayside Budokai was no exception. The good thing was the way that we adapted to the restrictions and changing conditions and kept on regardless. Thank you everyone.
